Valerie Craig was selected as the Distinguished Artist in 1995 by the American Cancer Society, Philadelphia Division. She was commissioned to paint four winter scenes of Philadelphia, which were subsequently used for that season's holiday card fundraising campaign. The watercolor designs are currently available to the public as limited reproductions.

The American Cancer Society invited Valerie to be the Distinguished Artist for the 2008 Holiday Card Program. She painted three wintry Philadelphia scenes, including the Boathouse Winter, a view of City Hall at night, and "Philadelphia Legacy," painted in honor of the memory of Anne d'Harnoncourt, the Director and CEO of the Philadelphia Art Museum.
