February 2013Exhibition: New Paintings March 2013Workshop: Landscape Painting: Keeping it Fresh Fundamentals of design, composition, value and expressive brushstroke will be explored while considering elements of the landscape. Students will work from photographs and field studies, issues with photographs as reference material will be discussed. April 2013Workshop: Plein AIr Landscape Painting Capture the scene of a beautiful location along Maryland's eastern shore as you learn to to simplify your design and build color relationships. Emphasis will include the massing of shapes, values, edges and brushwork, working directly wet-into-wet and complete a painting in one session. In case of inclement weather, you will have the opportunity to use reference materials in the studio. Some shortcomings of photographs and how to translate the image into useful information for paintings will be discussed. July 2013Workshop: Plein Air Painting Workshop in IRELAND Capture the lovely mist, soft days, changing skies, dramatic cliffs and quaint villages of County Clare, located along the coast of Western Ireland. Beautiful beaches, fishing harbors, farmland, sea views and the rocky landscape of the Burren offer great variety of subject matter and wonderful inspiration...not to mention the laughter, music and chat in the evenings! Demonstrations, plenty of individual attention and an indoor studio in case of inclement weather is available. Focus of the workshop will include developing and planning strong compositions, value and temperature relationships, brushwork and expressing atmosphere and mood with paint.
